Our Unique Approach
Curiosity Never Harms Anyone

Somehow, somewhere, Curiosity got a bad rap.  And that's unfair, because with the exception of the person who inquisitively put two chemicals together to form the first explosive, Curiosity is by and large a good thing.  More than anything else, Curiosity encourages us to learn.  To use more than the one-thousandth of our big, beautiful brain needed simply to eat and breathe.  Curiosity frees us.  From things like boredom.  And even worse things like mediocrity.  But Curiosity needs legroom.  It needs open space to stretch and run and to practice one-handed cartwheels.

That's why the Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association is the perfect place for Curiosity to live.  But not just any version or style of martial arts.  Curiosity needs the real excitement, the way it was meant to be.  The Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association doesn't have borders or restrictions.  And perhaps most importantly for the sake of Curiosity, the Jun Fan Jeet Kune do Grappling Association isn't prepackaged.  It's infinite.  When you choose a way to get there, choose wisely.

Continued (Introduction - Index)

The Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Grappling Arts is one of the most sought after arts today. The Jeet Kune Do Arts were created by Si Gung Bruce Lee, who made constant changes throughout his development process. Integrated Grappling is a mixture of takedowns, throws and a various blend of groundwork of all styles, regardless of size, weight or physiology.
It is well known to the students of Bruce Lee's that he was forming his own martial arts concept, Jeet Kune Do. We trained using Single Direct Attack (SDA), Attack By Combination (ABC), Attack By Drawing (ABD), etc.

During this time Bruce was experimenting and changing his system by constantly adding and deleting. The whole concept of training in the different ranges was very important. The four ranges were what Bruce worked on and emphasized. The idea was to be able to flow from the Kicking Range, Boxing Range, Trapping Range, Grappling Range, (vice versa) and being able to flow from one to another easily. At the time of Bruce Lee's untimely death there were only 33 formal techniques in the
Grappling Range. As the final and closest range there was much research to do in this range and Hartsell has continued his research into this area with various discrete techniques that now form the core of the Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association.

Si Gung Bruce was tremendously powerful, possessing a fifteen inch forearm and was always ready to beat me at Wrist Wrestling. Bruce taught me a lot about "Going with the Flow," and that because not everyone is built the same or fights the same, you must research your own experience. I recognize the value of Bruce’s approach to martial arts and its application to personal growth and for these reasons I became his student and friend.

INSTRUCTORSHIP PROGRAMS

The June Fan Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association will be directed by me in the spirit of Jeet Do as established by Bruce Lee, " Use no way as way, have no limitation as limitation." The Association is based upon teaching and thus perpetuation of the Art & Science of Jeet Kune Do. All ranges of combat  will be taught, "Kicking, Boxing, Trapping, Grappling." There are various systems blended and weapons taught. However, there will be an emphasis placed upon the product of most confrontation, "Grappling."
