Welcome Instructor Bo Jackson, Tallahassee, FL
I started my martial arts journey studying Southern Eagle Kung Fu for a summer in the early 80’s. I was hooked after that. I went on to study Tae Kwon Do and Wrestling, then Shorin Ryu Karate, and after that Shaolin Kenpo. Then in 2002 I suffered a spinal injury at work and thought my martial arts days were over. Fast forward almost a decade….. I looked in the mirror and realized that I had become a overweight slob with 40 right around the corner and I needed to get off my butt and do something about it, so I joined a gym. Going back to martial arts hadn’t occurred to me until one day I ran into an older gentleman at the gym wearing an Inosanto Academy t-shirt. I knew the name Inosanto and asked him about it and he told me about a local club doing JKD and Filipino Martial Arts. I was intrigued because I had always wanted to study JKD, but legit instructors are extremely rare in Florida, so I decided to check them out. Turns out the gentleman was Sifu Victor Ferreros, a student of Guro Dans’ since 1983 and an Associate Instructor for the IAMA Instructors Association. After a few sessions I was hooked again, and that love of the arts was back and stronger than ever. I’m 42 now and I’ve been at it ever since (5 years in February), and have managed to get back into fighting shape again and plan to keep training as long as my body will let me.
